EDUCATION PROGRAMME MODEL
Izmir Bakırçay University Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing undergraduate education programme is based on the ‘Classical Education Model’. In the Classical Education Model, laboratory studies and clinical practice training are given to the students in addition to theoretical knowledge. In the Classical Education Model, each course is evaluated separately (midterm, final and, if necessary, make-up exam); students must be successful in each course. Course contents created by all departments in line with the Classical Education Model are planned within the framework of the main concepts of human, health / disease, environment and nursing and are carried out in a way to support students' cognitive, affective and psychomotor learning. In the structuring of the Classical Education Model; National Competencies of Nursing Undergraduate Programme, Turkey Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ) Health Basic Field and Nursing National Core Education Programme (HUÇEP)-2022, especially national and international social determinants of health, standards and developments to meet the health care needs of the society and programme outcomes are taken into consideration.
The education programme consists of compulsory and elective courses. In the creation of compulsory and elective courses, the changing needs of the student and society are taken into account. Interactive education methods such as group work, case study, demonstration, concept maps, article review, portfolio, simulated patient, case study and role play and Web 2.0 tools are used to ensure active participation of the student in the course. In the education programme, Gordon's Functional Health Patterns Model is used as the basis, different models or processes are used according to the content of theoretical and practical courses, and a care plan is prepared according to the stages of the nursing process, which is a scientific problem solving method in the management of nursing care. In the laboratory and/or clinical/field application of each theoretical practical course, the knowledge learnt is transferred to practice. Laboratory applications are carried out in the laboratory environments of the department and clinical/field applications are carried out in institutions (hospitals, schools, healthy living centres, etc.) under the supervision of lecturers/clinical guide nurses in accordance with the objectives of the courses.
